Lawyers in the entertainment industry have an average annual salary of $6.7 million, according to data from Equilar, a website that tracks the salaries of entertainment professionals.
That is about double the average for all career fields, including accounting, marketing and other legal occupations.
Many of these top earners also get to spend their time outside of the courtroom.
Some lawyers make upwards of $2 million a year in entertainment consulting, according a 2013 profile of lawyers at New York’s leading law firm.
One of the biggest stars in the world, the late comedian Bill Cosby, made his money as a rocket scientist, according in a 2014 Vanity Fair profile.
“Rocket lawyers” have a long history of pushing the envelope in their legal practices, said Paul B. Orenstein, an attorney at Oren & Rosenman who has represented stars including Michael Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Bruce Springsteen.
“If you don’t want to be an expert, you can’t be an anesthesiologist, and you can only do one thing, which is rocket surgery,” Oren said.
“They want to challenge the status quo.
They want to push the boundaries of the law, to push things that are not right in society.”
Oren, who represented several celebrities, including Michael Moore, Bob Hope and Bruce Willis, said that the rise in rocket lawyers can be attributed to the rise of social media.
“There’s been an explosion of the internet,” he said.
But Oren added that the surge in lawyers’ salaries has been happening for years.
“This has been going on for years, and the reason is social media,” he told The Hill.
“People don’t have to be lawyers.
They don’t need to be professionals to be on the internet.”
Rocket lawyers have a lot of time to practice The rising popularity of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter has made lawyers more active online.
“It’s a big part of what motivates them,” Orosz said.
He said that lawyers who do online work are more likely to take on a lot more clients than their counterparts in traditional office-based industries.
“I think that the online presence is a big contributor to their ability to take more cases,” Orezz said, adding that he sees many of his rocket lawyers getting paid to help clients get their jobs done online.
Rocket lawyers’ income is up, too Rocket lawyers are a huge part of the entertainment business.
According to Equilar data, the top earners of all career levels in the U.S. have a combined annual income of $3.1 million.
Rocket attorneys make an average of $4.2 million per year, or about $1.6 million more than their office-level counterparts.
“What we’re seeing is that they’re the top performers in their field, and they’re making money,” Orexz said of his Rocket lawyers.
“But I don’t think that’s the case for everyone, so if you want to do something that you really care about, and it’s your passion, it’s time to go into the workforce.”
The rise of rocket lawyers raises questions About a quarter of the top earning lawyers make more than $2.5 million annually, according the American Bar Association.
The top earning rocket lawyers make $2,988,000.
The next-highest earning rocket lawyer makes $1,828,000, according Equilar.
The remaining two rocket lawyers earn $1 million and $895,000 a year, according The Hill data.
In 2015, rocket lawyers earned an average $5.6 per hour in hourly wages.
The most common rocket lawyer salary range is $2 to $2½ million, but that average is much higher than the $1-2 million range typically seen in the industry.
“The rocket lawyer is not a household name, and he’s not the top paid lawyer in the field,” Orazz said on a recent call.
“He’s not an actor, he’s a celebrity.
But he’s doing something that’s very important.”
The rocket lawyer’s job has many challenges Rocket lawyers, in addition to being a lucrative profession, also face challenges that many other professionals have to deal with.
The majority of rocket lawyer work requires a specialized skill set.
“You have to do a lot, you have to work very, very hard, and your hours are very, kind of demanding,” Oriz said during a call.
Rocket lawyer salaries are tied to the popularity of a particular case Rocket lawyers spend most of their time in the courtroom, often during the trial of a major case.
“When a rocket attorney works on a case, it is almost a full-time job,” Orez said in a phone call with The Hill last year.
“We have to have the ability to sit in the front row, because we’re so busy.”
Rocket lawyer clients also have to
