Posted October 02, 2018 09:06:49 A Hollywood lawyer’s retainer will pay out $10 million to a former entertainment lawyer who said Anthony had paid her $200,000 per week to help negotiate the sale of a film he was making.
Casey Anthony’s legal team said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times that it has been negotiating with the entertainment lawyer to pay for legal expenses.
A rep for the entertainment attorney told The Associated Press that he was not involved in the deal.
“I don’t know if there’s any connection between this transaction and the current litigation,” said attorney Michael De Luca.
A spokesperson for Anthony’s attorney, Robert Barnes, told The AP on Thursday that the lawyer is “evaluating options.”
Barnes declined to say what the fees would be, saying the terms of the agreement were confidential.
A source familiar with the deal said the total amount of the settlement would be $10.4 million.
The entertainment lawyer was named in the lawsuit as a co-defendant in a criminal case stemming from Anthony’s 2014 murder.
She has denied any involvement in the killing and is on trial in a federal court in Los Angeles.
The actress, who was 26 at the time, was found shot to death in her Brooklyn apartment on March 5, 2016.
