When the first lawyer-themed pet-themed TV show debuted in the late 2000s, it didn’t make the cut.
Instead, a new show, the lawyer office aesthetic, came out to fill that void.
While some viewers complained about the lack of real legal work, many loved the show’s goofy personality and quirky take on the legal profession.
We sat down with one of the showrunners and he shared his thoughts about the new show.
(Full disclosure: This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.)
How did the show come about?
A few years ago, we were approached by a client who was looking for a lawyer to help him fight his insurance claim against his insurance company.
The client wanted a lawyer who could have a real, professional relationship with his client and that would also be a positive influence on his client.
So we created a show for him that was focused on the lawyer-client relationship and it was based on the lawyers.
The main character, Jake, was a lawyer that had a great lawyer-relationship with his clients, but was also kind and friendly and kind and good at sports.
So he had a good relationship with everyone.
So that was really the focus of the new lawyer office show.
What are the differences between the lawyer and the dog?
It’s very similar to a real lawyer, but a dog, not a lawyer.
Jake was very much a dog person.
The dogs were all the same.
I think the only difference is the lawyer has more experience in the legal field, but Jake is not.
The lawyers are all very, very professional.
The show is about the lawyers and the dogs.
How did you find the producers?
The first producers we contacted were the showrunner and the show producers.
The show is produced by me, Matt and my brother, Matt.
It’s an eight-hour series.
It takes place over eight episodes.
We don’t have a showrunner or a show producer.
I would describe it as an ad-lib series, just an eight hour comedy where the jokes are all about the lawyer.
The writers come up with all of the jokes.
The director and producers come up to the set and write the jokes and make sure the jokes all fit in.
I really love making them.
It really is like a family show.
I’m very excited about making the show.
When you say you’re “a little dog person,” what do you mean?
I mean that we’re like a little dog, but we’re not a dog.
We’re really good with the law.
We get the job done, and we’re very professional in every aspect of the legal work.
We know the ropes and we know how to pull it off.
What were some of the funniest moments on the show?
The best laugh came from the first episode.
We were on a road trip and we got lost.
The next day, we got to a big, beautiful, blue, beautiful road with a great view of the mountains.
We stopped for lunch at a restaurant and got to talking to the waiter.
He said that he was so excited to see us and said that we needed to call his mother.
The dog came up and started barking and barking.
He was excited to meet his mother!
So he called his mom and said, “Mom, this dog is my friend.”
We had to get him to his mother and then to the police.
Then we had to meet the police officers.
The cops went to the dog, and he barked and barked until the dog was finally brought to the cops.
The officers said, Oh, well, he’s a dog now, so it’s OK, but he’ll be fine.
We had the police go out and put him on a stretcher.
The police officer then said, There’s a problem.
The cop who brought him in said, Jake’s got a bad back.
He says, “No, he can walk again.”
That’s when he got to his mom.
The other dog comes out and says, Oh yeah, he did that, too.
They go and put the dog on the stretcher, but the back is terrible.
The back is very bad.
So Jake is now on the back of a stretcheter and he’s really good at it.
That’s one of our funniest laughs on the series.
Is there anything that you’ve had to rethink in terms of the writing or the direction of the story?
There have been some changes that have come about in the last couple of years.
I’ve been doing a lot more writing for the show, which has allowed me to make some changes.
I have also been making some changes in the direction the show takes, and that has made it more fun to make.
It has also made it easier to write for a show that’s not so serious, but that still has some heart.
The first season of the program was the last
